Neat Co. Neatreceipts Scanalizer Review

Being the owner of several companies and DBAs I collect quite a number of receipts that have to be accounted as business expenses. My accounting department had been using the Neat Co. Scanalizer to scan and file these receipts until recently when the software crashed and required re-installing.

NeatReceipts ScanalizerThat’s when the nightmare began.

First we were prompted to uninstall the defective software found on the CD delivered with the Neat Receipts scanner. This alone was quite a daunting task which took hours – YES, HOURS!

With no live, real time customer support available we were forced to rely on email support (with typically 1 business day reply time), or consulting their forum which contained little or no pertinent information to assist us in the removal of the defective software. This is by far among the worst customer support system I have ever experienced dealing with a product without physical stores.

Once we were confident the software had been removed, we downloaded the more stable software and attempted to install it. Over 15 hours into it, to this day, we continued to work tirelessly to install this new software to no avail.

What we are now left with is a $200 product with defective software and over 20 hours of troubleshooting at my expense. This translates to a total cost of over $470.00!

My opinion is there’s NOTHING neat about this Neat Co. product, its software or their primitive customer support. I will not trust their brand name again and strongly recommend you shop wisely when looking for a receipt scanning device or hand held scanner…
