Off the Beaten Path at the Zoo

This week’s outing for the St.Pierre’s took us to one of our favorite spots where this time, for a change, we ventured off the beaten path…

Time usually spent with at the giraffe lookout or by the rhinos was replaced by a 30 minute interaction with a giant iguana named Moe.

My first impression of the 35 pound lizard was a little intimating, to say the least. How would you react to this prehistoric beast if it were walking briskly toward you?

The thing was scary enough without the element of surprise which is exhibited in this photograph by my lovely wife Elizabeth and daughter Faith.

Good thing the iguana was docile and meant to harm to us. He was only looking for a handout I guess which he found none with us.

As we continued our trek we came across the curtest grasshopper. In tune with the week’s lesson on bugs, I thought it appropriate to have a seat and spent a little quality time with our new friend.

The girls had just finished playing in the water area and we were on our way to the stingrays when Grace observed a grasshopper along our path.

Another blessed mid-week outing turned awesome photo opportunity. Soon it will be cool enough for a Disney comeback, onto a fall-winter season I have seldom looked forward to as I do this year…
