Ranked among the most complicated and unreliable CRM on the market, “InfusionSoft” sarcastically renamed  “ConfusionSoft” by many InfusionSoft users in my entourage magically continues to evolve as a player in the constituent relationship management systems game.

I have over 7 years experience using InfusionSoft on a full-time basis, 5 or 6 days a week. Do the math and that’s quite a lot of campaign, contact and product management, tags, action sets, order & web forms, follow-up sequences, affiliate or referral setups and email frustration. Infusion email on it’s own is worse than a recurring nightmare!

All in all I have countless hours invested into the software. My opinion of “InfusionSoft” can be summarized into one sentence: Don’t try do it yourself!

InfusionSoft works because Clate Mask, CEO and Co-Founder of InfusionSoft surrounded himself with  phenomenal sales and marketing teams. Basically, InfusionSoft is everywhere!

How else could such a primitive CRM survive in such a competitive market, and in spite of its rigidity and restrictions?

InfusionSoft has been more than an ongoing struggle with complex CRM software. Since 2008, it’s been at the root of great successes. I’ll admit the highs we experienced with Infusion were impressive even though similar numbers could very well have been achieved otherwise via other web based services however, when it works, InfusionSoft does get the job done. The web based CRM certainly has proven to be a powerful tool in email marketing, but continues to fall way short of the competition on too many levels to list, such as their mediocre yet pricey Affiliate program module which just does not measure up to the competition. Even free open source PHP affiliate program scripts do a much better job for us than InfusionSoft’s affiliate program module.

On countless occasions over the past few years, I prayed for resolve and planned on moving our data off InfusionSoft servers to no avail. Unfortunately, though the data is indeed proprietary, the databases are InfusionSoft property and hosted on InfusionSoft servers — Not ours. One of the biggest drawbacks when dealing with InfusionSoft is once you sign-up, your data becomes their property by default.
