Why The SpaceX Demo-2 Launch Is So Epic…

The SpaceX Demo-2 launch will be the first time in history that human beings will be shot into space on a rocket owned by a dude with a lot of money.

The genius of Elon Musk is at the root of the excitement that’s spread all over the globe these days as the entire world watches Launch Complex 39-B at Kennedy Space Center, our hearts filled with hope.

Until today, all space travel has been paid for and made possible by government agencies, with the United States taking the lead until the end of the Space Shuttle era back in 2011. For the past 9 years, America has been dependent on Russia to transport astronauts and cargo to the International Space Station, the football field size space craft that’s been orbiting our planet since 1998.

What’s most exciting about the SpaceX Demo-2 launch is that God willing, most of the Falcon-9 rocket and Dragon Crew capsule will be recovered. This is the basis of the SpaceX program which re-uses propellant rockets and crew vessels, greatly reducing the costs associated with space travel and exploration.

Another important aspect of the Dragon Crew space craft is, there’s plenty of room for civilian passengers! That’s right, Musk’s goal was not only to create cost effective transportation to and from ISS to NASA’s benefit, but also provide an opportunity for anyone to travel to space… :)
