Throwback Friday – The Jimmy!

This week’s throwback takes us back to spring 2002, 15 years ago somewhere along I-95, possibly North-Carolina… A few days earlier, I emptied the Montreal loft and put most my stuff in storage, then I hit the road Jack!

I was heading south for the summer to crash at mt friend Stephan’s place, and hopefully learn how to play beach volleyball.

Daniel St.Pierre changing tire, South Carolina, Spring 2002Summer 2002 was so good it was off the charts! Stephan and I hit the beach almost every weekend, life was definitely sweet. I was broke, since I couldn’t work in the US, but I was living la vida loca!

As my 6 month visa expired, and along with autumn came time to drive back up north in the Jimmy. The tail gate glass has shattered earlier in the summer, so a trip north in October was not a journey I looked forward to taking. The Jimmy broke down heading back to Montreal, but by the grace of God, a good Samaritan towed and fixed the truck for free…

I had no idea when I snapped this photo the old GMC that this truck would become my home for a short while upon my return to “la Metropole.”

Although this certainly was a good truck, the Jimmy brings back a good number of not so good memories. A reminder of poor decisions made that eventually became costly learning experiences.

Quite frankly, this is a humbling throwback I am glad to have shared in spite of the pain it brings back, the kind of sorrow that never completely washes away…
