Shocking Twitter Stats for 2020

It’s no secret that in 2020, Social Media continues to be a critical part of any company’s marketing outreach. However, leveraging this popular technology does present challenges to which little or no data is available. Until today!

After over 5 years of research, I’ve come up with Twitter stats you should be aware of before endeavoring in Social Media Marketing.

1. Twitter is Known by Everyone

Just like Facebook, Twitter has become a staple in most people’s lives. Today, the social network is known by everyone, except of course for remote indigenous tribes who don’t have internet access.

2. Fewer People Use Twitter But They Matter Most

Everyone knows about it, but no one uses it anymore. In 2020, less than 40% of those who knew about Twitter actually used it compared to 70% user ratio with Facebook enthusiasts. Twitter was sizzling hot in 2008, still hot in 2009 but now slightly still warm in 2020. In spite of the fact there are less than 60 Million users in the United-States as of the end of last year, Twitter users discuss, complain and consequently, they buy more.

3. Blacks and Hispanics Love Twitter

Nearly double in ratio to that of the American population, 1 in 4 Blacks in the United-States use Twitter. Blacks and Hispanics make up nearly 50% of all Twitter users. Analysts attribute the popularity of Twitter’s success among Blacks and Hispanics to ease of use and the similarity to “texting” which continues to claim the interactive media ladder well on its way to the top.

4. Twitter is Mobile

Facebook users still rely more on computers than Tweeps, 8 out of every 10 Twitter uses use mobile devices to keep in touch, compared to 65% of Facebook users who prefer computers. Of Twitter users who are mobile, more than half own an iWatch or iPhone.

5. Twitter Gets Crawled and Indexed

Just because Twitter is fading does not mean it should be ignored. Unlike Facebook walls that are private and reserved for “friends,” search engines continue to crawl and index Twitter. This is why internet marketing efforts that areĀ  focused on SEO and web presence must include Twitter.

Consider Twitter a fading media but one still critical to your site’s success. #TGBATG
