5 Ways to Overcome Blogger’s Block…

Writing a blog article doesn’t just mean putting down thoughts into words then typing away. To run a successful blog, you must capture the interest of your readers and get them to keep on reading. To get your message across, you have to grab the attention of your readers, have a firm grasp of their interest and pique their curiosity.

The main ingredient in baking up an article is undeniably a good amount of creativity. While creativity may come naturally to many people, some among you stumble and come face to face with writer’s block. Many writers have literally torn their hair out when they hit this invisible wall and just can’t seem to get their creative juices flowing.

Putting words into images in the readers mind is an art. A clear and crisp depiction requires a certain flair that only creativity can provide. Similes and metaphors can be helpful, but the way an article gets entwined word for word, then flows from one sentence to the next eventually creating paragraphs that create a clear, precise image in your readers’ minds, this is the essence of a successful blog post or article.

What do I to do when nothing comes to mind? There are simple and effective ways to get your creative juices flowing. While no one can guarantee you will achieve the perfect mindset that will allow your creative juices to flow, the following methods may assist you achieve a state of mind that will be conducive to writing.

1) Keep a diary or a journal.
Ideas can be triggered by anything you may hear, see, or smell. Your senses are your radar in finding great ideas. Write all of them into a journal and keep it with you for future reference. You may also write down anything that you have read or heard, someone else ideas could be used to develop your own concept for an article or blog post. Remember that ideas and creativity can come from anywhere; it’s the development of the idea that will make your article unique.

2) Relax and take time to sort things out.
A jumbled mind cannot create any space for new ideas. For creativity to flow, writers must have clear mind. Get rid of all obstacles that can be a hinder to your creativity. If you are bothered or anxious about something in your life, it’s likely you won’t be able to stay focused. I use the power of prayer and worship to clear my mind of distracting thoughts. Sometimes I turn to the bible, seeking refuge in God’s word. Either way, before I sit down to write I make certain I clear my mind of any concerns that would prevent creativity from flowing.

3) Create a working place that can inspire your creativeness.
Your work space can be quite a hindrance if it doesn’t make you joyful or relaxed. Creativity stems from being in a pleasant state of mind, a messy or cluttered workplace that causes distraction won’t be conducive in firing up your creative flow.

I use digital wind chimes on my computers (download the MP3 here) which effectively simulate a gentle breeze blowing through my workspace. I also use beach themed wallpapers on my computers. On rainy days I burn my favorite Nag Champa incense. A neat and well organized workplace also reduces distractions and unwanted hindrances.

4) Set the mood.
This step requires you to flow with the moment or to induce yourself into a creative mood. Finding out what works best for you will positively impact your creativity. Set a proper pace and tempo, allowing your mood to guide your creativity.

There are many ways to set the mood. For me a hot cup of coffee in the morning, worship music, or sitting outside under our oak tree will stir up my imagination.

5) Go on a getaway and just do something unlike crazy.
mapLetting yourself go and distancing yourself from your workplace often produces adrenaline that can make your imagination go wild.

Go on a short adventure or a solemn hike. Take your camera and visit the nearest resort or beach. Whatever is not typically part of your daily routine might get your creative juices flowing.

By extracting yourself from the environment where you fear writer’s or blogger’s block, you allow your mind to focus on something else thereby releasing tension and stress that often are at the root of the invisible wall.

Using the advise above, in no time at all your imagination should jump on overdrive.
